FOR YOUR PRACTICE

Acupuncture and integrative pain practices

Assess your actual clinicians, covered services, and operational needs before choosing a remote-care pathway.

RELEVANT PATHWAYS

Programs to consider for your patients

How to choose—and what must be verified

Start with continuity of appointments, patient communication, and existing covered or contracted services. Do not treat acupuncture licensure or a home-treatment app as independent Medicare remote-care eligibility.

CMS distinguishes physician acupuncture requirements from those for specified nonphysician practitioners and auxiliary personnel. Acupuncture coverage and remote-care billing are separate questions.

PAYMENT & FINANCIAL PICTURE

How would payment and practice costs work?

Operational support is purchased through a service agreement. Any professional claim needs its own eligible practitioner and covered service. Avoid presenting RTM or PCM as automatic additional income for a standalone acupuncture clinic.

Who receives the payer payment?

The eligible billing practitioner or organization receives any supported claim payment under its payer arrangement. A code price is an allowed amount, not guaranteed collections.

What does PrimeVital charge?

PrimeVital’s operational fee is set in a written agreement. The practice also plans for clinician review, any device expense, patient cost sharing and unsuccessful claims.

The treating practitioner may bill a qualifying Part B service—not automatically the facility or agency.

Check enrollment, the exact service, stay dates, place of service and existing services. A Part A stay and care after discharge are different situations.

Existing service collections

Use actual receipts from covered or contracted services. No new remote-care reimbursement is assumed here.

Operating costs

Compare the written service fee, setup costs, and remaining staff workload with your current process.

Benefits to verify

Track appointment follow-through, messages handled, patient experience, and staff capacity. Improvements are goals to measure, not guaranteed savings.

THE WORKING PROCESS

A follow-through pilot for an acupuncture center

An illustrative operating workflow. Agree on the exact roles, clinical protocol, records, and service scope before launch.

  1. 1

    Confirm the service route

    Practice owner + billing lead

Identify existing covered or contracted services and the responsible professional. Check the actual payer’s acupuncture and clinician requirements.

  2. 2

    Set the follow-up process

    Treating professional + manager

Define scheduling intervals, permitted messages, patient permissions, and the route for clinical concerns.

  3. 3

    Support appointments

    Interactly within the agreed scope

Assist scheduling and routine messages; clinical advice remains with qualified treating personnel.

  4. 4

    Assess progress

    Treating professional

Review symptoms, function, and the treatment plan during appropriate clinical encounters. Document the actual care.

  5. 5

    Review the pilot

    Owner

Compare appointment follow-through, workload, patient experience, and support cost with baseline.

Your first step

Confirm the services, professional qualifications, supervision where required, and benefits your actual payers cover. Choose a scheduling or follow-through problem for an initial operations pilot.

EXAMPLES FOR YOUR SETTING

Start with a real need in your practice.

These scenarios show what to evaluate, rather than automatically assign a program or approve reimbursement.

Standalone acupuncture clinic

Start with scheduling, messages, patient follow-through, and the clinic’s actual payer or self-pay services.

Integrative medical practice

An eligible practitioner may evaluate complex disease management or therapeutic monitoring that fits the patient and professional scope.

Medicare acupuncture

Coverage for specified chronic low-back-pain treatment has its own practitioner, qualification, and supervision rules; it does not automatically authorize RTM.

YOUR INVOLVEMENT

Agree on responsibilities before the first patient starts.

Your organization

Qualified treating professionals own clinical care. The organization confirms each benefit, professional qualification, supervision arrangement, and payer contract.

PrimeVital’s agreed support

Interactly can support agreed front-desk services. Revenue-cycle and coordination work can be scoped around the practice’s actual services; clinical program support needs a verified treating-practitioner arrangement.

Service hours, professional qualifications, technology, integrations, records access, and fees are confirmed in the engagement. Front-desk automation handles agreed administrative tasks; clinical judgment and claims remain with the responsible qualified professionals.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

A practical launch checklist.

  1. Identify each treating professional, license, enrollment, and state scope.
  2. Verify the covered service and payer rather than rely on the clinic’s business category.
  3. For any monitoring pathway, confirm clinical domain, qualifying technology, and eligible work.
  4. Define clinical and administrative roles, consent, records, and escalation.
  5. Compare actual costs and receipts for the services you can legitimately provide.

COMMON OWNER QUESTIONS

Resolve these before committing.

Can acupuncture patients also receive care management?

Their medical needs may qualify for care supplied by an eligible treating practice. That does not automatically make the acupuncture center the Medicare billing provider for those programs.

What can PrimeVital do for a standalone center?

Scope administrative scheduling, messages, and follow-through through Interactly. A clinical-program collaboration would first need its own verified professional, service, and payer route.
